Round Robin Challege: Black and White Landscape

I decided to participate in a photo challenge. My first time and I am was nervous. In fact, I signed up, then reneged, then signed up again. Part of my hesitancy is because the challenge was to do a black and white landscape and 1.) I don’t do many landscapes and 2.) I’m not that fond of black and white.

But here are my attempts at meeting the challenge and I think it is something I will try again. It looks like Round Robin hosts these challenges twice a month or so, go visit them to sign for the next one or see other people participating in this one.

The first three I shot in black and white mode, with my Rebel XTi out the window of our room at the Hilton in Bloomington, MN yesterday morning. The last one I took with my old Sony H5 last July in Green Lake, Wisconsin and just edited to black and white. I still like the color version better.

For not liking BW and for not shooting a lot of landscapes, you sure did a nice job. Brrrr. We woke up with 6 degrees this morning, but looking at your pictures make me feel like it's 5 degrees. Great pictures!!!

Welcome to the Robins! Very nice landscapes. Three and four are fantastic. Love the reflections in the water and the steam cloud with the sun is wild. Perfect landscapes!

I( think you did great. The black and white emphasizes the starkness of the skyline with the building.

Welcome to the Robins! Excellent first RR effort! The first two are stark and moody, the second two are dramatic and shot with light. Who knew that a sunrise or sunset could work in monochrome? Now, aren't you glad you didn't ultimately chicken out? ;)

Hi there, and welcome! I love these, especially the third and fourth. Open water takes on such a different feel in black and white, doesn't it? Nice job!
