Chemo #7 is tomorrow but we're trying to not think about that. My lhasas are great little companions and have sure been extra loveable lately. Fibi has begun playing with toys; something she has never shown an interest in before. She is also initiating more of the play sessions with her brother. She jumps on him and tugs on his ear for a change. It's really funny hen he stands and her body is across his back and her back legs are a few inches off the ground. She just looks at me like, "help". He eventually lets her down. It really bothers me that she has started shaking when we leave her. We gate them in the doggie room when we have to leave and there's fresh water and food in there as well as several beds and toys but when she sees us getting ready to go out she just sits and shakes. It makes me feel horrible but she can't go everywhere with us. It's still too cold for her to sit in the car for any length of time although she loves to go bye-bye.
Brodi is constantly trying to get Fibi or us to play with him. It's so cute because he stands staring and after a while he arfs and bounces his butt. His back feet leave the floor momentarily and each little hop has an arf attached. It's so funny and always makes me laugh. Anytime Fibi decides to play with a toy he gently takes it away from her. I guess after all this time he thinks every toy is just his. He has a lot more energy than Fibi or I do and while she is contentedly sleeping next to me he will walk up and rub his head on her trying to get her to get up and play. He continues until she either obliges or reprimands.
There are two things that Britney had taught JoZe how to do that Brodi now does regularly. JoZe acted as Brodi's mama after she warmed up to him and I see some of her in him but he is still definitely his own. He has the cutest personality! JoZe would give hugs and Brodi does that if you lift him up. Brit taught her to do high fives and she then used her little paw to indicate things she wanted and Brodi now does this. It didn't take much work with him to do it and he does it for affection alone. His only reward for the fives are lots of praise and rubs. But his little tail just wags ceaselessly.
I wish I could take them with us tomorrow but I don't want them sitting in the car alone for a few hours and it's supposed to snow a little. I just wish I could take them to the pet stores while we're near them. I also hate leaving them home alone but really have no choice. I know they'll be happy to see me even if I don't bring them a bagel (after hotel stays I bring them a bagel). It's got to where Fibi will nose through my bag until she finds her treat. :) And this morning I found Brodi's favorite toy stuffed into the robe I left on the floor last night. I kept feeling this lump and was trying to figure out what was in the pocket and finally discovered after some shaking that the little guy's toy was safely tucked away in the robe. I leave it on the floor at night because sometimes Fibi likes to sleep on it - it's really soft.
I wish I could trim them better as I'm embarrassed to take any pictures of Fibi right now, she looks so choppy. I need lessons or something poor thing looks like a badly sheared sheep.
Hi Lisa I just stop by once in awhile to see how you are.I will be
thinking of you today and each other...

Juliet, I pop by your blog from time to time too but haven't been able to
comment. congrats on the baby! Babies are so sweet and cuddly.
Lisa,
I guess you're done with the chemo by now. It's Thursday night. Hope all
is well. Don't worry about Fibi shaking. Emi shakes, too, and tried to
bite her way out of her metal crate. She CAN get the latch open if we
don't set it right. I'm sure she goes to sleep after we leave. Also, I've
heard that dogs have no sense of time, so they don't know if you're gone 10
minutes or 10 hours. Don't worry so. My poor babies are crated about 9
hours a day. They are fine. I feel bad for them, but I felt worse for me
the one day I left them out and came home to a shredded pillow!! I also
know Wilson is safe if he should have a seizure. Well, I hope you are
resting comfortably. Take care and I think of you often.
Well, here is it 3:30 AM and I can't sleep. Guess I am getting excited
about our vacation, or something like that. Lisa, don't worry about the
shaking. My Bella does it too but when we get home we usually find her
snoozing in her bed and happy to see us. It makes me sad to see her do it
but I don't think it lasts long at all. When I was in the hospital a
couple of times after we got Bella my husband would sneek her into my room.
We have one of those dog carriers that look like a small travel bag. He
would put her in there with a baby blanket and then wrap her in the blanket
and put her in bed with me. After a little cuddle time she was ready to
play but basically she behaved well when she visited. Once a nurse came in
and caught Bella in bed with me and didn't even bat an eye. She did what
she came in to do and then as she was going out the door she said, "I
didn't see that cute dog". We still laugh about that. Today, my two were
really funny. Usually Bella is the alpha, although Maddie is older and
bigger. But today Maddie decided she had enough of Bella getting her own
way and she was going to do something about it. Anyway, I was laying in
bed resting this afternoon when both dogs decided they wanted up. We have
a cedar chest with a blanket on the top so the dogs and jump up into bed.
We have a high bed and without the chest they can't get up on their own.
Well, Bella was on the floor doing her little arf noise she makes when she
wants something. Not a full bark but just enough arf to let me know she
wants me to do something for her. I new she wanted in bed so I told her to
jump up and join me. Odd, because she usually just hops right on up.
After some more arfs from her and me telling her to jump up I decided to
take a look at the cedar chest. Standing guard on the chest was Maddie
patroling like she was a guard at Buckingham Palace. Back and forth she
walked and every time Bella would try to sneak thru one side Maddie would
beat her to the spot so she couldn't get up. Maddie really didn't want up
on the bed but she sure didn't want Bella to get past her. I scolded
Maddie and told her no but she was so pleased that she had control of the
situation she wasn't going to give up the game. I ended up getting out of
bed. Picking up Bella and putting her on the bed and then taking Maddie
off the chest and putting her on the floor. Then I watched Bella hang over
the side of the bed as if to say "na na na na" to Maddie. Maddie changed
her mind and decided that a nice nap with mom would be fun too so up she
jumped. Two lhasas in bed. What can be more fun! Hope this round went
well. Take care of yourself this week. I'll check in with you when I get
back. Kathy
Michele, Glad to know Fibi's not alone in her shaking. I'm sure she's ok
once i leaev to she just makes me feel so guilty for leaving her. And if I
let them run the house while we're gone they manage to find a place or two
to piddle but if they are in their room, even all day they have no piddles.
Amazing how that works. Because I can leave them alone and loose for an
hour and find a mess but leave them in their room for 10+ hours and
nothing.
Kathy, sounds like several of us have pups who don't like us to leave. I'm
so excited for you and your vacation. What will the pups do while you're
gone? So funny that Maddie was being ornery but you fixed that. It sounds
like something Brodi would do to Fibi. Currently they are happily playing.
They've been doing a lot of that lately. I'm doing ok today, not
horribly. Hopefully this one is going to go tons better.
My Lisa, my beautiful lovely Lisa. You are more beautiful than I expected
:). Thank you for loving me and Mike, and I hope you know we love you too.
Im sorry I wasnt here to cheer you on :(, ive been...tied down Lol.
Aloha! My daughter is staying at our house to watch the dogs. I hate
leaving them and wish they could be with us as they love the beach but
Hawaii has strict rules about dogs coming in. It used to be a long
quarantine time but I think that has been cut back some but the paperwork
you need from the vet and all the vaccinations necessary just isn't worth
it. I hate when they have to have a shot. Just like when my kids were
babies. I think I was more upset about them getting their shots than they
were. Glad to hear you are doing ok today. Ok is good! Don't hesitate to
call the nurse for that IV. I just read an article about hydration and
basically it said that if a person becomes dehydrated it affects every part
of their body and can really make you feel bad. Part of the brain fog and
all that can be from dehydration. The article went on to say that if you
get thirsty then you have waited too long and are already too dehydrated.
Interesting, huh? Take care. KW
Always thinking of you my lovely friend. XO + Prayers
Meleny, I am so happy you're home and it sounds like your spirits are
higher. Keep your chin up lady bug!
Kathy thanx for the info I think I'm going to go ahead and do at least one
bag of the IV after this chemo. I am drinking better this time around just
not tons. Better to be safe than sorry and hopefully I'll be back on my
feet quick.
