It's Fun Monday's birthday! FM is 1 year old now and although it's cut some teeth, it is still pooping in its diaper. I was so happy to hear the the very first Fun Monday host is hosting this birthday edition. Thanx Vicki! I was also happy to hear that we would be repeating the assignment of the original Fun Monday gatherers.
Do you guys know how cold it is up here?! We're talking negative numbers here folks. But I'll tell you a secret, I don't care if it's 10 above or 10 below, cold is cold! The biggest difference I notice is that when it's minus 10 your boogers freeze. Seriously, it feels like you have peebles in your nose. Well, that and if you leave body parts exposed they might fall off. All I could think during the Packer game was, "I wonder how many noses are going to fall off after the game."
So, the view from my front door is not grand. There's a driveway where my son's car is generally parked right outside the front door, snow and trees - that's it. And there was no way I was going to leave my door open to take the photo, not with these negative degree temperatures. And I got a new lens (100-400mm) I'm dying to play with. So I'm bending the rules, unusual for me, I know, but things happen. So, I stepped onto my porch, two small steps outside the door, and shut the door trapping the warmth inside the house to warm me when I'm done with the photos.
I look to my right. Hi Chickadee!
Looking past my son's car I can see one of the birdfeeders, yes, it's snowing. Hi hungry birds!
Looking past the feeders, I see a cute little nuthatch and a little chickadee. Then I wonder how close the little nuthatch will let me get so I tip-toe down the driveway and . . .
. . .close. . .
. . .closer. . .

. . .Oh Mama!
All the photos today are straight from the camera with no cropping. I think I'm gonna like this lens!
6 bald eagles sitting in a tree, k-i-s-s-i-n-g. . .I wish these guys were in my yard but they are in Kaukauna.
UPDATE: Since I was feeling guilty for bending the rules (how does Swampy do it each week?) and for disappointing some of you, here, I stuck my hand out the door long enough to snap this.

i love love love your photos. it's amazing that you can see those birdies
right from your house. awesome.
As usual your photos are awe inspiring!! Thank you so much for sharing!
And I wanted to see out of your front door ! You have to get some fresh air
in your house, lol ! Even when it is cold !
Great photos!
Lisa, Love your photography. Glad you have a new camera to try out on Fun
Monday participants.
Love your photos but I know what you mean cold is cold!
We get bald eagles in our trees here like that also.
I hear the chickadees long before I see them. And, sometimes I hear them
but don't see them. They do not visit with me like the goldfinch and
housefinch and pine siskins and juncos and sparrows.
Those pictures are breathtaking! What a beautiful view! I am joining for
the first time here, and I still have to figure out how everything works!
But I'm cheating too!
I love your photography, you must get so much pleasure with all that nature
on your doorstep.
That last photo of the nuthatch is fantastic!
These are amazing bird pictures~ but you should have also thrown in one of
the driveway, we're a nosy lot!
that is one nice lens!! And lovely photos again!
Oh Lisa....I think your View Is The Best I've Seen!!! Wow.
I agree, your photography is spectacular, Lisa. What kind of camera do you
use? You might've mentioned it before, but I don't remember. And your
lens? hehe, my sister told me now that I have a (starter) SLR, I'd have
lens envy. She's right :).
Those are fantastic photos. You're obviously quite talented. I'm
embarrassed by my meager photo on my blog.
Oh Mama puts the birdy closeups into the perfect wrapping.
Your bird pictures are fabulous...what a treat. I guess that I cheated too.
Out my front door, we have a screened-in front porch. I took my picture out
the ot the porch door.
I think you're gonna LOVE that lens. Awesome photos, Lisa. That little
nuthatch is almost as cute as the mad bluebird that is sold everywhere.
Those are great pics. That poor little guy looks cold.
Am I the only one who doesn't have snow?? I feel so cheated!! Love the pics
of the birds. How sweet!
Always love visiting your blog! Your photography is spectacular!
WOW what a zoom lens..I love your birdie pics!
First of all...man I want your lens..those are some sweet pics....
Your new lens is great! those photos are wonderful. Brrr is what I have to
say for the view from your front door. Everything looks great covered with
snow, though...
What lens ARE you using? Great photos!
Okay! I am lusting after your camera!! G-O-R-G-E-O-U-S Photos!!
I am with you, if it was that cold outside, I wouldn't want to poke my head
out!! I'm glad you did capture all those beautiful bird shots! We don't get
them here in Arizona. Now roadrunners we have!
Happy Monday,Lisa!
Lisa, as far as I'm concerned, with photos like that, you can break the
rules anytime. Amazing photos!
I can't believe those shots are without cropping. Simply stunning as
always. And, I can only imagine after losing in OT those Packers fans who
braved that weather are rather in need of some tasty adult beverages.
Getting those great pictures means you had to be outside in the cold to get
them. You are brave.
You and your new lens make a great team. Those photos are amazing!
Hi Lisa...I think the "flower" you questioned me about is actually and wind
chime!! If you asking about the bush..it is called Breath of Heaven and
has lovely petite purple flowers all through the spring and summer!!
Love your bird pictures! Fantastic pictures!!!
Glad you posted a pic of the view from your front door, but I'm even more
glad you showed those birdy pictures!! As always, they are great!
Those frozen boogers are called snot-sicles. I had a few of those
yesterday.
Those are awesome photos, especially the nuthatch closeup. You have a nice
view from your house, not other houses close by and nature all around. It
looks a lot like it does around here, and just as cold.
You've got me wanting to get my birdies online. I can't top the bald
eagles, but I've got some interesting ones. Now if I can just get NLM off
the blog. Beautiful post.
great pics. i can't believe how close you got!! i just started feeding in
my backyard...i'm gonna have to take pics!
