Garden of the Gods - Colorado

posted Thursday, 19 June 2008

g1

Next stop on our vacation route was Garden of the Gods. It’s really a magnificent place and we could have spent a lot more time there but we had other places we wanted to see.

g2

There were some rock climbers on the day we were there. And it was pretty cool to watch them scaling up.

g3

Such a magnificent view, with the mountains behind.

g5

We had walkie talkies with us so we let Haden go off by himself for a bit, he was dying to climb a little and I wanted to look for birds. He was unaware that we could see him at this point.

g4

But we called to him and snapped a photo for his grandparents. My little Mountain Goat. Although, at 16 he doesn’t like to be called little.

g6

He’s a pretty good climber. But I did remind him that he doesn’t have insurance so don’t break anything.

g7

He had great time wondering around, didn’t break anything and did wear off some of that been-in-the-car-too-long energy.

I can see why it's Called the Garden of the God's, It's absolutely gorgeous!!

Hiking is one thing I really enjoy, I am hoping to take Marissa sometime this Summer. If we leave really early in the morning, and finish around 8 or 9 before it starts to get HOT! She likes to climb too!

I'm soooo glad you took in some great sights. NLM and I spent the first few days together at Garden of the Gods. At that time, you could drive all the way through. We'd stop here and there, get out, take pictures, then drive on. Geez, was it THAT long ago?? Great shots.

I was just doing a search on Colorado Springs, and came across your post about Garden of the Gods. WOW, what beautiful photographs! You really captured the huge, weird, haunting beauty of that park. Excellent photography. That rock climbing photo made me hold my breath. Nice job! If you get a chance to return, check out the "Siamese Twins" rock formation. You can take a photo of Pikes Peak with a natural sandstone frame. Fun stuff.
