AOJ & the Lurchers are hosting this week’s Fun Monday:
Continuing in the spirit of "being interested in people", I would like to know, or see, what's on, in or under your bedside table! So open those drawers and bare your soul to us! Is there anything special there that has a story or a memory that you can tell us about? Books that you keep there to delve into from time to time? Trinkets that you don't know where else to put? Let's see!
Luckily, I just rearranged some things about a week ago so I haven’t had a chance to mess it up yet. Other things may come and go but here you see my basic needs. The small table is an old telephone table I picked up at a garage sale a few years ago. In the drawer is chocolate, chocolate and more chocolate, and a little bird book. The bottom shelf holds Cds, Puffs and my laptop, middle shelf has a notepad and pen, the book I’m currently reading and my book light. The little basket on top of the table holds odds and ends, my bedside lamp is pointed at the wall because I like the softer lighting so it looks a little funny. My eyeglasses, soda and have you tried the Bath and Body Aromatherapy Orange Ginger body lotion? It smells SO good!
The black backpack keeps me organized in so many ways. It is more than a computer bag, it holds every power cord I use regularly. I lose things so much I find it easiest to keep them all in one spot. So as soon as I’m done charging my cell phone the cord goes back in the bag. It not only keeps me from losing the cords but also assures I’ll have the cord with me when I’m traveling. Because, not only do I lose things, I also am extremely forgetful!
The longer shelving type thing along the wall is actually the top portion of an antique desk, also found at a garage sale a few years ago. I keep the scrapbooks supplies I use most often in it. Some extra soda on top and books on the bottom. Now I just need the time to read all of the books.
To aid in your nosiness, the books on the shelf are: (L to R) - Professional Techniques for the Wedding Photographer, The Art of Photographing Nature, Life Images, 50 Portrait Lighting Techniques for Pictures that Sell, The Portrait: Professional Techniques and Practices in Portrait Photography, Contemporary Wedding Photography, Jeff Smith’s Posing Techniques for Location Portrait Photography, Designing a Photograph, Photos that Sell, Photoshop CS2 RAW, Digital Wedding Photography, 2007 Photographer’s Market, HTML XHTML &CSS, Photoshop CS3, Dreamweaver CS3, and HTML for the World Wide Web (my first html book from 1999)
Your table is very organized! I do have some of that lotion and it does
smell divine!!! Your choice of reading is way more intellectual than
mine!!!
This telephone table as sidebed table was a very good idea ! I have much
less stuff on my table, since I fall asleep immediately, lol !
Just a few books (one about Photography) a big pile of newspapers (hubby
asks me if I want to build a house), my "jewels" and that's a bout it ;)
For a lot of items you sure do keep it neat and tidy. Love all those
photography books!
Love the coke...and I'm envious with your books...
sooo....a chocolate and Coke in the middle of the night person then!!??
Ya, ya, ya............you're telling us that you cleaned it up a week ago,
but I know that the truth of it is - you cleaned it up just before you
brought out the digital!!! Come on, 'fess up!!!
A drawer full of chocolate? Sounds wonderful to me!
Love your table and book self. I hear ya on the Dt Coke! I usually have
more Dt Mt Dew bottles than I had, but I picked 'em up. LOL!
What a cool table!!!!
OK, for Tortured Tuesday, we can all post pictures of our night stands
AFTER we organize them and make them look like yours!
I love the style of that table!! It seems perfect for the bedside. If I had
more room next to my bed I'd go out looking for something similar...
Coke and chocolate -- an admirable combination. But have you tried beer and
chocolate? Or red wine and chocolate? Yuummmm. You're very tidy, by the
way.
chocolate and a bird book. What else do you need (except for your camera,
of course)
I covet your bookshelf, but I'd prefer the knowledge be automatically
transferred into my brain deciphered so I can understand it.
Would you please come teach me what you have learned from reading/studying
those books?
Especially the HTML one?
My youngest son turns his lamp to the wall just like that. Cool.
GREAT collection of books!
Hmmm! I think there's a theme in those there books! I like your
strategies for keeping organized and ready :-)
Love your side table with the shelves! Love all the books too...I'd love
to look through all the photography ones!!
that's quite a collection you have there
I love your little telephone stand Lisa--perfect size and shape for the
essentials. Agree with handiness of backpacks. In working days that's
what I carried instead of a purse. How smart to use for all the cords,
chargers, and instruction manuals for our tech toys.
Thank you for typing those out. I was getting a crick in my neck. lol.
Looks very interesting!!!
I love that telephone table/side table. It's really cool looking!
I have to say your quilt has caught my eye. I know that's not what I'm here
to look at but I'm trying to ignore all that choc that I can't see but know
is there!!!
So...when can I take some photo lessons?
Thanks for letting us see into your bedroom. You have an actual library of
books! Kathy b
Oh sheesh I have to do math to post here?
chocolate and diet coke. a girl after my own heart!
Well, that's very organized "chaos" I must say. Isn't it fun getting to
know people this intimately? Great post, I enjoyed reading it!
Referring to your comment: Dean Koontz is one of my favorite authors. He
grabbed me back in the 80s with "Lightning" and "Watchers", but I think my
absolute favorite is "From the Corner of His Eye." I've only read the
first of the Odd series, so I have more to look forward to there! I love
finding other Koontz fans.
Chocolate and diet coke in a bedroom? You're a woman after my own heart.
Those happen to be two of my most favorite things on earth.
My quilt was made by my mom and my grandma. I love it too! :-)
The html book isvery helpful if you don't know much and aren't interested
in learning it all. I use it as a reference for anything I want to do.
But I don't think it would be enough if you are looking to learn how to
design a webpage. Just for little things here and there. You know?
Wow, how great to have it all tidy and at the handy. I love DC, my only
softdrink I drink. I am thinking now that I want on. They are in the cold
room on the floor so with this cold temperature are colder than
refrigerator, just before the ice starts forming. We have one photography
book from years ago. I see now why you do such a good job. I love scented
body lotions and creams.
Don't feel bad I missed yours too, I remember looking at it but must have
gotten torn away by kiddos and forgot to come back! I absolutely love your
bedside table. If you find another one I'll pay you for it and come get
it!!
