I had a great time on my trip but have really missed you guys the last couple of weeks. Glad to be back and can’t wait to see what you have up today.

This week’s Fun Monday hostess, Robinella said, “I want you to dig through your blog files and show us your best effort. Why you consider it your best is up to you. C’mon, you know you have a favorite - show it to me one more time.”
She also confessed to how insecure she felt about giving her assignment (I felt that way too) and I wanted to take a moment to say that I felt the same insecurity in trying to pick the post to share. I don’t want everyone sitting there saying, “That, she picked that to share?”
I finally narrowed it down to two. One of them I just tossed up there on my sidebar under ‘weekly random’ (sorry I forgot to change it the last couple of weeks with everything going on). I typically change that link every Wednesday for those of you unaware. The other post I liked I have copied below. I guess the main reason it’s one of my favorites is because it sums up the craziness in my family pretty well and it made me smile when I reread it. So I present you with my post from February 25th, 2007:
Further proof of the roots of my insanity (porn problems amongst others)
My parents' trip took a good 17 hours, they were stuck on Interstate 90 for over 2 hours due to a tractor trailer jackknifed across all lanes. It took a plow and tow truck to move a few semis and then that one before traffic could move again. They saw many vehicles in ditches but they slowly made it here.
By the time the baby was born and we were able to leave the hospital it was after 10 pm. My parents followed us to our house and the roads had been plowed but with the drifting snow there were bad spots and our driveway was full of snow. There's no way we could get my parent's car up the 700' drive and no place to leave their car if we carried everything up so we had to guide them to a motel.
Side note - My dad really wanted to stay at the Rear End until we talked him out of it and explained what it was. Click on the photo for the explanation.
During the drive back into town Dennis was on the phone trying to find a motel to accept pets. We simply told the willing motel that they had "some small animals in crates". We checked them in and were to meet up for breakfast this morning.
I called to tell them that we couldn't get out of our garage (we tried, got stuck and had to shovel our way out) and my mom told me that they thought they were going to be stars in a porn movie. It seems that their neighbors were a little noisy, maybe a lot noisy and this caused further loss of sleep as the dogs cried and howled along.
After our nice family visit at the hospital we all left at the same time and my dad and two sons danced a can-can along the hall. We were extremely lucky we weren't escorted to the Psych Ward and no straight jackets were waiting upon our return. (Please notice my dad is wearing shorts! My parents brought no coats to chilly temps and huge snow.)
We managed to find some time today to meet some fellow geocachers for a coffee and while we chatted we found that they were staying in the same motel as my parents. I told them what room number my parents were in and they said they were neighbors. There must have been an odd look on our faces for they added, "well across the hall" We laughed and told them the story of the making of a porn movie next to my parents.
When we met up with my parents later we told them how the friends we had just met were in the same motel. Mom asked if they had been kept awake too and I told her they hadn't but that they were in a neighboring room. I enjoyed staying silent while my parents' jaws dropped to the floor and they repeated "what?". Fearing my dad's sudden demise I finally revealed they were across the hall not next door. Parents can be fun to torment even past your teenage years.
Do you need further proof that I am insane by genetics alone?
Great post - a new baby, howling animals, inappropriately dressed parents
AND a porn movie? How cool is that?
This post had a little bit of everything in it!
Well. I think this was a great one to share. The pictures alone are
priceless. Great job!
I wonder if the Rear End would've allowed your parents to stay there?
Would've been just as exciting as the motel, me thinks! Teasing your
parents that way? NEVER gets old. I still do it, too.
This was fantastic! I love the photos and the story and the Rear
End...LMAO.
You say insanity I say you guys sound like a ton of FUN!!
That was a great post! I could just see the "look" on your parents' faces
when you told them your new friends were their motel neighbors! Too funny!
Those pictures are great. Your family seems like so much fun!
This was a fun story. I had to come back as I couldn't get into your
comment box this morning.
How fun - your family, that is!
I love this post so much! Your family is hysterical!
THAT.WAS.HILARIOUS! I must stop reading this stuff at work...
Your family sounds like a lot of fun! Your dad looks like he's a riot.
A little family insanity is a good thing. Great family photos!
that rear end pic is funny...and i love the dancing men
That insane family sounds wonderful!
I totally think I read this before - but it was SO worth it again!
HYSTERICAL! And I love the family photo...I could SO see your dad stopping
at The Rear End...c'mon, he KNEW! LOL!
How fun to have such an adventure. Well, when it is all over and you are
reminiscing that is. Funny about your dad wearing shorts and the psyche
ward comment. Genetics are a funny thing, fortunately or not, sometimes
things skip a generation.
What a fun (and funny) post!
You must have a wonderfully fun family. I enjoyed reading your post and
seeing the pictures
Your dad looks priceless in those shorts and doing the can-can LOL!! Great
family photo too!
The Rear End...love the title!! It would make a good motel name...for
people who want to rent by the hour :-)
Fun story. It had everything. Loved the can-can.
enchanted with the "can can" down the hall. wonderful
Hee hee. Fab story. And I love the can can shots. Fab. LD
That post had everything but a hot towel and a gourmet meal.
What a lot of fun. I especially like the pictures of Dad dancing in the
hall.
Your insane and wacky family sound not only wonderful, but I'm sure when
you all get together, it's a real Party. And I agree, this makes a
fantastic birth story.
