Do you have paraskevidekatriaphobia?

posted Friday, 13 June 2008

Are you afraid of Friday the 13th? No, I don’t mean the horror flick of the 80s (Did you know Kevin Bacon was in it?) although I remember being pretty frightened when I saw it at the drive-in theater. Maybe you don’t have paraskevidekatriaphobia (fear of Friday the 13th) but simply triskaidekaphobia (fear of the number 13) - if you have either one, I’m sorry if I’m aggravating your phobia.

I’ve never had anything bad happen on a Friday the 13th, have you? In fact, the only Friday-the-13th memory I have is finding out I was pregnant with my first child September 13th, 1985. What’s your Friday-the-13th memory?

My husband was born Sept. 13th 1968. Friday the 13th couldn't be a more luckier day for us

I love Friday the 13th's! The OB I had with my 2nd son did not want to give me the due date of Friday the 13th so he gave me the 12th instead. I am positive my son did not want to be born on the 13th as my contractions started at exactly midnight on the 14th and 5 and half hours later he was in my arms!

My husband's birthday is November 13 although it was a Monday in 1944. This past November he had surgery on the the 13th. This was not a Friday either. The surgery went well, and the doctor said that he is fine so this was not unlucky. Still, I was a little upset that he had surgery on his birthday. To answer your question, I have no Friday the 13th stories although I have not seen one of the Friday the 13th movies...too scary for me.

Note; My sum today is 13...ewww scary.

I have always had good days on Friday the 13th -

and my best memory? As a 7th grader I went swimming at a friends house and the boy I had a crush on was there. We both went swimming under the water and collided. I bumped my face on his - it was the best moment of my 7th grade self ever.

I was a bit triskaidekaphobic (and I've known what it was for years) for a while...but the tyke arrived on the 13th, so of course, that was quickly forgotten.

Well today if you tried to travel it would have been a nightmare. How are the roads up by you? We have a wedding in S.Pt. on Saturday and I don't think it's a good idea to leave the backyard. Unless of course you live in the Dells.

I had cancer surgery on Friday the 13th. I got married for the 6th time on Friday the 13th (and it's lasted the longest of any marriage so far). I won $8,000 on Friday the 13th playing Keno, so I'm thinking Friday the 13th is a good number for me.

Lisa, if you check this blog of mine (I have several as you know), you'll see I've given a tribute to you, and created a link to your blog.
