Bald Eagle Watching

posted Wednesday, 2 January 2008

We have been running like crazy the last few days and I'm so behind.  In the next few days I'll show the other critters we found on our Eagle watching trip, fireworks from New Year's Eve and the Polar Plunge in Door County on New Year's Day.  But for now, we found many Bald Eagles, finding them wasn't the issue, getting close enough was (Dennis says I need a longer, more zoomy lens. . . my birthday's coming up :).  We did happen upon 4 sitting in a tree and we watched them take turns swooping down to catch food.  Do you see the fish in his claws?

Wow...WOW!

Ya know, this is a TREAT--most of "us" don't see this kind of thing very often.

Your shots are fabulous, I can almost feel the cold and energy present in the images.

(I'm with ya on the behind part...it's becoming a way of life for me figuratively, and regrettably, literally, too :/).

HAPPY NEW YEAR, THOUGH!! Hugs to YOU! :)

Wow, those are absolutely beautiful. I love birds of prey, especially bald eagles...I get tears in my eyes whenever I see them. I am very envious of you right now. I have only seen one once in the wild, last summer while houseboating on Lake Shasta. I would have loved to have been with you!!

Absolutely beautiful. We have a pair of eagles near us and I am in awe everytime I see them. I also volunteer at a Wildlife Hospital and I have been able to be up close with a couple of eagles when they were patients. Amazing!

I love the Bald Eagle. They are so majestic and beautiful.

My dad lives on the water (near the San Juan Islands in NW Washington) - and they can't let their little shitzu go outside by herself - because the younger Bald Eagles are very brave to swoop down and get her.

Those are really great shots. I love the diving ones. That must have been something to see them all together like that, and hunting.

I'm glad you guys liked them. We saw many eagles along the Mississippi River and we plan on going back soon. It's just a little daytrip from home. We figure we'll take Haden once he gets back up here.
